On January 26, 2021, Dr. Tinka Delakorda Kawashima gave a guest lecture at Kake High School as part of the Hiroshima Prefectural Government Program for promoting intercultural understanding. Tinka-sensei’s talk was delivered over Zoom on the subject of Kakure Kirishitan's religious rituals and featured interactive discussion about traditional events that the students have experienced.

Teachers coordinating with the project at Kake High reported being impressed with the active engagement of the students. The Global Education Course advocates active learning approaches in our coursework, intercultural events, and community outreach.

We are thankful for the opportunity provided by the prefectural program and collaborative partnerships with Kake High School and hope to continue to foster these relationships with local institutions in our activities planned throughout 2021.
