Institute for the Promotion of Interculturalism in Education (I-PIE)

In a rapidly globalizing society, we must develop human resources who can learn and build a society with people from different languages and cultures. The Institute for the Promotion of Interculturalism in Education supports the learning of children with diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds at schools, and is also involved in the development of global human resources through university education. We also help international students on campus also get involved through collaborative visits to local schools to promote international understanding.

International Network of Educational Institutes (INEI)

The Graduate School of Education at Hiroshima University is a member of the International Network of Educational Institutes (INEI). INEI is a network of research universities with teacher training functions that aims to develop education internationally by consolidating pedagogical practices and achievements.

Based on the principle of one institution per country, INEI currently consists of 11 universities in 11 countries. Membership is by invitation only, and membership is based on the following criteria: 1) publicly funded, 2) strong regional and global reputation, 3) research-oriented institution, 4) established programs and graduate schools in teacher education, and 5) no geographical bias with respect to current members.

The Graduate School of Education at Hiroshima University was admitted to membership at the 2018 INEI Annual Meeting (Beijing Normal University, China) and will participate in the 2019 INEI Annual Meeting (University of Toronto, Canada), where it plans to conduct faculty and student exchanges, conduct joint research and formulate joint projects in cooperation with other member universities.
